20 questionsI was let go from a job I loved last year. I found relief, happiness, and joy in my plushie friends. Kind, fuzzy friends, far away from all the corporate lies and nastiness. I want to make an ambient electronic album for them. Full of peace, kindness, softness, and happiness. I have a few pieces ready. Can anyone relate? Would you enjoy listening to something like that? To bring closure to an awful time, and to make people happy.

I have too mc\uch going on. I want 10 lifetimes to get to experience all of these interwesting rabbit holes and deep dives. I'm a musician, an artist, a technologist/engineer, a photographer but due to the breath a master of none -- a generalist to a fault. I've been told to "FOCUS" before. I know about the 10,000 hours to mastery 'thing.' My question goes out to fellow creatives who've found their way out of a similar situation to a simpler, more satisfying approach to creativity that doesn't feel like hundreds of unfinished projects, or force you to give up things that you love, or still want to explore. How did YOU do it? What works (for you)? What doesn't? Pleasse share your hard-won wisdom with a creative soul drowning in backlog.

Hi Supertwang, Ok not sure if this will help. Focus is not always the answer in large scale. This is how I have started turning around my overload. Perhaps it will help. I pick at least one of my pieces of gears a day and spend some time on it. I pick at random and at first 15 mins was I I could do before on to the next gleem in my eye. As I learned a bit more on each I was able to give more time. I also discovered the each daily gem was building and increasing my skills and that evil word focus. My modular instructor has drilled in to her students. Your are not behind and right where you need to be. I still have a long way to go but for the first time in 10+ years of collecting gear and training classes I am using more and more of m gear. I an now patching across everything, trying new things and having fun and started build tracks. Do repeat the quests as others may have ideas that may work better for you . - - Glenn

The best way to get away from folks is to go the backcountry route, for which you will need a backcountry pass. While most of these are long multi-day treks, you could do a quick in an out from Poboktan to the waterfalls campsite and back (total 22km round trip, do over 2 days, stay at waterfall) or at the other end of the trail to boulder creek (similar distance)
most people look for circular walks but out and back gives you two different vistas.
My experience of the western US and Canadian parks is that after 1/2 hour on the backcountry trails you will have it to yourself.
Exercise caution and prudence! You will be relying on your own resources.
Take a good camera for the stars and a field recorder for the birds and bears.

I guess we are skipping past the idea of 'if nobody is around to hear it, is it really music' and assuming that by music, you mean sound waves.
Assuming the music isn't being played in space (which is a whole other argument, as in space nobody can hear you scream) then some of the sound is absorbed by matter and converted into heat.
So I'd say, the music goes into heating your room.

Fabulous question and just the sort of thing that THRP should be perfect for! But you'll have to give us some time - this is early days and we are hoping to attract more artists and designers going forward. At the moment you have me. All I can offer is the friendliest spider I know - the Zebra Spider. It's tiny, can jump 14 times it's own body length and is desperately cute. I have one running around the edge of my monitor from time to time. Hopefully something more concrete will come along to inspire you.

I think that depends from where you start your journey.
For me it is a quite adventure to get there. I would say yes - but a little goes a long way in my experience. And full disclosure, I've only tested this in Banana Icecream, where I've used smoked paprika.
Luckily I have many chickpeas, and will test this out tonight for dessert! (you'll love it with banana icecream!)

That's a thoroughly interesting question and you must be a beautiful person for even asking it. I'm sure, given the right motivation you would have easily cleared that hurdle. However, we made it impossible by forgetting to provide a pathway to being a creator - doh! The reason being that Creators have to be curated and approved - but for the purposes of testing it would be useful to let you sign up as a Creator. I will give the developer a poke and see if we can provide a temporary gateway for that.
Thanks for the question though, I got an email notification and everything, so something's working :D

Can anybody suggest good lighting for a Jaspers synth rack so each level has some illumination. Ideally SMART and compatible with Home Assistant. Oh - and pretty colours!

It aint cheap but the philips hue light strip is great and can be glued (the strips come with glue) on the bars UNDER each synth thus illuminating the one underneath. pretty colours and you can control it remotely with all kinds of settings and 'scenes'. You coudl have a scene for each synth that lights up its row in white and the others in deep red.

Katla was build from hot GAS that came from the earth's inner core - turning slowly into lava before the hot lava finally burst through the earth thin pizza like crust in an blazing explosion.
If you can promise to reproduce that very same audible procedure on a Katla synth - I guess you can convince the GAS to hold back from biting you.

Most synth enthusiasts might argue that all available EBM bass lines are already made. Iconic bands like Front 242, Daf, Nitzer Ebb, Sturm Café, Spetznas have created many pumping bass lines over the last 45 years yes, but I would say that the possibles still are endless!
Here are a few golden tips:
- Start by doing a typical filled 8th/16th base line where octave jumping is almost mandatory.
- Then try to introduce random pauses in the bass rhythms to break it apart
- Random the order of the notes around until you have one version that matches no other bass line found in universe.
- Try doing abnormal octave adjustment 1-2 octaves up/down.
- To make it even more interesting is to introduce off-scale notes that are 1-3 semitone or so up or down in places where you do not expect them.
- Add drums, release, play it and see people dance!
